Hi Kids: Not much to rant about at the moment. This post is reserved for some: SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION! B.J. McCallister (of the original Morning Sickness program/print article/Blog fame) returns to the airwaves (and streaming media) this Monday night beginning at 6:00pm Central Time (US) with TALKING BACK TO THE NIGHT! Yep, another talk show on the World Wide Web -- but this one will be different! I'll be taking two hours and talking about the big life events and the thoughts they cause when one is alone and the night is talking to you! Those thoughts that run through your head when there is nothing happening, and you cannot sleep. We've all been there, and I'm there more than most. This week the debut show is about the Earthquake/Tsunami. Not to trivialize the 175,000 people killed, but to explore other aspects of the disaster -- how the Tsunami was created, how the Earth moved, some of the theories surrounding it, organized religion's answers to the question "Why?" We'll also talk about other things affected by the disaster, plants, animals and the planet itself. In the second hour, in a segment I call "This is too Freaking Cool", you'll get to hear the "sounds" of an Earthquake. You'll hear the Earth talk! You can get involved in this also, send your questions and comments to talkingbacktothenight@hotmail.com Hey, we're a college in Mississippi! We are a NO BUDGET operation. Just put what name you would like me to call you, and where you are writing from in your e-mail and I'll read them on the air! Maybe I'll even be able to answer your question! There is a phone number too -- it's (662) 329-7254. I'll open the phones in the last half of each hour in case you want to chat about the topic. If you want to listen (and hear what the voice sounds like belonging to the person that types these rants, point your web browser to www.muw.edu/wmuw You'll need a RealPlayer to listen to our program -- but it will work with the slowest dial-up connection to the fastest T1 or Cable Modems! If you don't have RealPlayer, then we have a hot-button that can take you to the RealPlayer site to download their RealPlayer. (Unless you are reading this on a Mac -- RealPlayer doesn't support Mac yet -- take it up with Apple!) Hope you'll log in and enjoy the show and maybe learn something -- or at least have something to talk back to the night about -- Monday night! BLOG OUT! |
