It's Friday, and we're in THE ZONE on WMUW World Wide Web Radio! I have about 22 more minutes of the last program and then IT'S THE WEEKEND!
You gotta love lawyers! You know, even though they get a bad rap now and then, once in a while they prove all that bunk wrong! Case in point: In yesterday's blog, I ranted about the Action/Lane factory that fired the Moron because of his legal troubles. When he got home, he immediately phoned his attorney and advised him as to what happened. His attorney then faxed the factory for a copy of the Moron's work records. The reason why he actually requested the records was to use them in his defense -- saying to the judge here is all the bad things that have happened to the Moron since he was arrested and to ask for leniency based on these bad happenings.
Of course, the attorney kinda-sorta forgot to tell them that's why he wanted the records. Action/Lane faxed the attorney back, saying they would not release the records without a court order. Well, that's okay -- but the good thing happened next -- five minutes after the return fax, the Moron got a call from his boss at Action/Lane saying they are sorry that he "misunderstood" them. See, they might have said "You're Fired!" But what they wanted the Moron to know is they really meant "This is a temporary layoff until your legal troubles are solved. As soon as that happens, you can return to work. Lawyers -- God Bless Them All!
Speaking of which, do you know why we have Realtors? So the Lawyers have someone THEY can look down on. ;o)
The Christians have left the building! Today was the last day of camp so all those little heathens are heading back to where ever they came from. Probably totally warped for life! They all left wearing camoflage T-shirts with an American Flag patch, and on the front was the the word HERO in Red, White and Blue. Underneith the HERO in little letters was the question, Whose yours? On the back of the T-Shirts was a design ripped off from the U.S. Air Force -- instead of the star in the middle of the wings like the USAF has for their new logo, there was a cross with the words "Jesus is mine!" written where the US Air Force is written on the AF's logo.
Can't the Christians come up with anything original? I have seen T-shirts with the three Budweiser frogs -- only they were saying "Be-Wise-ER" and then the lizard said "Follow Jesus." Then there was the Survivor television show logo ripoff -- it looked like the Survivor logo, same colors, same fonts. But inside the ring around the Survivor logo it said "Outwork, Out Pray, Out Last. Then it said "You don't want to be kicked off this island." C'mon folks -- can you say copyright infringement? When is someone going to sue these fools and make them think for themselves?
Religious rivalry/war boiled down to it's barest essence: "My invisible friend is better than YOUR invisible friend."
It's been raining every day this week, and that SUCKS! But everytime I see the pictures of the folks in Indiana, I am glad I live in a well drained area. To the folks in Indiana, we're pulling for you down here in Mississippi -- and our trucks with relief supplies are on the way. We'll be there as soon as the river goes down far enough to drive through!
We're about to leave THE ZONE, so I'll close for now! It's the WEEKEND!
One more thing -- there is a porn site called THE ZONE so don't make the mistake of logging in there thinking it's our radio station! We're no affiliated with THAT Zone. Although I wish some of those girls went to school here! WOW! BLOG OUT!

Time to be doin' the Blog thang again! It's been a long, hot summer and it's still early July!
Summer school, second term started last week. I am teaching one class the second term -- Public Speaking. Mainly non-traditionals and High School students, but they are a pretty good bunch!
Since we last Blogged, I along with one of our computing gurus have been installing the new computers and the new network. After this I have a healthy respect for those that wrote and programmed the servers we use to Blog! Our network is nothing close to the scale of Google and Blogger, but it still has been an almost major pain. However, we will soon be one of the first, if not the first totally convergence programs in the world! We will have the first truly paperless program! Everything will be done, researched, edited and finished on the computer. Then the finished products will be sent to the professor via the network where he/she can look at it on his/her office computer! Audio, Video, Web Design, Text, and Desktop publishing will all be done in house on our network. Once the little darlin graduates, we will present him/her with a DVD of ALL his/her work! PLUS, he/she gets a free web page for a couple of years to showcase their work on the Internet! AND if they wish to make copies of their DVD's, we can do that too! Our students are going to KICK BUTT! WATCH OUT WORLD!
Since it's summer, it's also time for summer camps at this hallowed hall of academic excellence which I call my second home. This week it is a bunch of Christian campers. We're talking a mixture of fun and games, bible study, a lousy rock band, and some religious stuff thrown in. The little heathens (and I don't use this term lightly) have so far broken two pictures in the building, ruined one couch in the lobby, thrown water balloons at students and staff entering and leaving the building, and scuffed up the floors the physical plant spent a month cleaning and waxing. They spend their days screaming, yelling throwing water and generally getting in the way! If this is how Christians are supposed to act, give me a bunch of Satanists any time! ;o)
Other than that, the only other intersesting things that have happened concerns my wife's son -- remember Butthead of Beavis and Butthead that helped me in the yard a few Blogs ago? Well it seems that over a three night period he and a couple of his thug friends went on a crime spree. They decided they needed some tools, some tires, some rims and a trailer -- so they got them. However, not only did the owners NOT know their stuff was being acquired, the morons didn't pay for their stuff either! So the cops come knocking at the door -- and the Butthead (hereafter called Moron) shows the cops where all the stuff is. THEN goes with the cops to return all the stuff to the owners! THEN the cops arrest him and take him to jail -- where he rots for three days before he can make bail. This was three weeks ago. He goes to court to be arrained and formally charged August 28th. In the mean time, he has been fired from his job because of this incidient (more on this later). His two partners in crime did live with him in his house, now they have moved out and he has a mortgage to pay. So now he's looking for a job, any job to help him make his bill payments while he waits to find out if he is going to prison.
In Mississippi, stealing anything over $250.00 value is a felony -- Grand Larceny! What they stole is valued WAY over $250.00 -- it's in the thousands! So if he is convicted, and gets a hanging judge, he could do 15 years in the State Pen. However, this is a first offense, he cooporated with the police, no violence was involved, all the stolen property was returned in the same condition it was in when it disappeared -- and the people he stole from have said they will not testify against the Moron! HOWEVER -- since it is a felony, they cannot drop the charges! This is a State case now. But that doesn't mean anything other than the Moron will have to face a judge -- but the judge has a wide latitude in sentencing, and/or reducing the charges. We have the Moron a Lawyer, and this is what we are working. He confessed, and showed the cops where all the stuff was -- so it would be hard to say that he didn't know anything about it.
He, the Moron, admits to stealing the tires and rims -- but the other stuff he just sat in the truck while the thugs did their thing. Unfortunitely for the Moron, the fact he was present when the crime occured, and did nothing to stop it, makes him just a guilty as the rest.
Now back to the jobs story -- he worked at Action/Lane, manufacturing Lane recliners. If you bought a Lane recliner in the last three years, when you lean back to make the chair recline, you are leaning on the back plate and material the Moron manufacutred and put together. He has not had any trouble while at work, he always met or exceeded quota, and he did quality work. He missed three days of work while in jail, but he called in everyday to say he wasn't coming in -- all according to policy. The week before, and the week of the fourth of July the plant closes every year so EVERYONE can get their two week vacation. Lucky for the Moron (we thought) all this time he had to deal with jail, the cops and the lawyers he could do while he was on "vacation" and not miss work. So he shows up bright and early Monday morning, begins his day working on the line. After 30 minutes, the line foreman comes up to him and tells him to go home and wait for a call from the plant. So he goes home and sits and waits -- for three days. Yesterday, they call him and tell him to show up Thursday for a meeting with the boss. Quick back story here, one of the other two thugs worked in the warehouse at Action, and he was fired on the spot. So we figure that they are going to read the Moron the riot act, tell him to keep his nose clean or else, and then send him back to work. So he goes in, sits down -- and gets fired!
Now he hasn't been formally charged yet, and there's a pretty good chance that he might get out of being charged, or the charges being retired. He hasn't been convicted of ANYTHING! But they fired him because of "this mess". My question is this -- if we are going to believe that someone is "innocent until proven guilty", or if we are going to believe that everyone is allowed one huge mistake -- or if someone deserves a second chance? What the heck is up with this? So let's say for instance that the charges are retired. "This mess" is done. Is Lane going to hire him back? I THINK NOT! So now we have a person that hasn't been convicted of anything, that has bills to pay, who lives in an econimically depressed area -- and has to keep his house and his car! Now if he turns to drugs, or to crime to make his money (which the Moron won't but others might), can we blame him? DON'T TELL ME THAT YOU CARE FOR YOUR EMPLOYEES IF THE FIRST TIME THEY REALLY NEED YOU YOU TURN AND RUN! I have a Lane recliner that is going into the trash tomorrow, or I shall burn it in the yard this weekend. LA-Z-BOY HERE I COME! SCREW LANE! More on this to come later. BLOG OUT!
